The Clos du Notaire is a vineyard which began as a small family vineyard inherited by the wife of Maître Menard, a notary in the middle of the 19th century. The son-in-law, Maître Henri Coutin, a notary in Jonzac in turn inherited 9 acres of the property. Maître Coutin expanded and provided an adequate structure to the Clos du Notaire Vineyard. Since 1974, Sylvette and Roland Charbonnier have continued the tradition and offer quality wines that have made the Clos du Notaire so well-known. Today, the alliance of the terroir, climate and the work of the winegrowers perfectly meets the AOC (designation of origin) criteria requirements.
